EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - A Colorado Springs Italian restaurant failed its most recent routine health inspection, while several other local eateries earned top marks, including one brewhouse with a perfect score.

According to the inspection report, pre-made lasagna and other food items were missing date labels. Inspectors also found pizza boxes, paper towels and to-go cups stored directly on the floor.
The report also noted concerns about how employees cleaned pizza peels. Staff reportedly only removed food debris by wiping the peels down, but did not use water or soap to sufficiently clean them.
The owner told us they added dates to all their food items, removed to-go containers and cups from the floor and re-trained employees.
"The checklist which we have in all our restaurants has to be followed to a T and, the day that they came in, the team obviously didn’t follow the checklist," he explained.
Mici Italian passed its re-inspection with a perfect score.
On the brighter side, a few restaurants received high marks in their latest health inspections.
Those earning top scores include:

This week's perfect score goes to Lebowski's Taproom on Centennial Boulevard.
“If you keep up on it all the time, you don’t have to scramble," co-owner David Kowalski responded when asked how they manage to stay so clean.
Kowalski highly recommends two menu favorites: the wings and the cheesecake. He also said people should come out for trivia and bingo nights!
Keep an eye out for the KRDO13 Restaurant Roundup Awards at your favorite restaurant as a sign that its kitchen has met the inspection standards. A high score means the kitchen has passed its routine health inspection with minimal violations.
